WOW! October has arrived, fall is here, pumpkin spice is in the air, and the NWM is less than 2 weeks away!! :) I'm excited, nervous, and sooooo ready to to run this race! Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I'd make it this far along and still have a surge of energy and passion to run. Since lacing up my running shoes this past February, I've logged over 500 miles!?! Insane, huh?! I've basically ran from Orange County to San Francisco w/ enough miles leftover to run a full 26.2 mile marathon! Over this past year, I've learned not to say "never ever" about anything - because anything is possible!
In high school, I was the studious bookworm who had just enough coordination to sit on the bench for the JV soccer team. Coach Morris was nice enough to give me some playing time towards the end of the game. If there was anything I'd be good at, it was running round in the mid field. Haha! Eye- hand- leg coordination is non-existent in my world. Today at age 30 I still struggle w/ lack of coordination! Must be the bad genes! (I sure hope my kids don't inherit these genes from me.) ... Never ever did I think I'd find a passion to play a sport or have a sport hobby.
As I've learned w/ many other things this year, never say never! After running over 500 miles in 8 months, I can say w/o hesitation that long distance running is my sport! I LOVE it! There is no play book, no X's and O's, no drills, and anyone can play at any time - even me :)
