Having the right running shoe makes or breaks running. Years ago I used to say that I couldn't run because of bad knees. What can I say - 700+ miles later in a good pair of running shoes, I'm still running and enjoying it. After wearing down 3 pairs of Saucony ProGrid running shoes, I thought I'd branch away from my comfort zone and try a pair of Brooks. This particular brand of running shoes has been at the top of the market and are highly recommended by podiatrist (feet doctors). They are considered the Bentley of running shoes :) Who needs the Mercedes, when I can have a Bentley? Haha!About two weeks ago I invested in a new pair of running shoes - the Brooks Glycerin 8. This was my own birthday present to myself :) My Saucony Progrid shoes were wearing out and I could feel the throbbing pain in my feet after pounding the pavement from a long run - no bueno. I got decent mileage out of them: 2 half marathon races, 1 full marathon, and countless training runs ... The new shoes fit like a glove, run like I'm gliding on water, and make me look good. I even took the risk of running w/ new shoes in the HB Surf City Half after only breaking them in for a 2 runs. The new shoes gave me a new PR :)
The Glycerin 8 shoe is a neutral fit which helps to support runners with a mid to high arch and overpronate. The support and structured cushioning helps prevent knee and ankle injuries in running. Reviews have said the 7 series version of this shoe is better, but since I only have an 8 series to compare - I'm not complaining! I'm still a novice in many ways ... Now that I have my new shoes to continue w/ my training, I have one less excuse not to drag myself out of bed to run!
