After 2 weeks for NOT running, tonight I laced up my running shoes for a light jog around Mile Square Park (4 miles). It took my body a few minutes to recognize what it was suppose to do as I gingerly took little strides along. My right knee and ankle are feeling a little off and I'm not sure what it is - maybe it's just psychosomatic? I didn't push myself too much and I'm trying not to stress out about it either. I'm hoping when I lace up later this week it will be gone.
Before I completely recovered from the wet and painful LA Marathon, I decided I need to run another marathon under better weather conditions to truly tests my physical endurance. This last race just wasn't my day to run and I've accepted it. I still have an itch to physically challenge myself and run another full marathon, SO I signed up for the San Diego Rock n' Roll Marathon on Sunday, June 5th!! ... I'm not sure how I'm gonna do it - especially after attending two weddings the day before, but I'm sure I'll figure it out :)
With the back to back races, this leaves me 2 months to maintain my long runs and train for strength and speed. I pray for the endurance and discipline to run and follow my training schedule regardless of the crazy social and work schedules :) ... In the two weeks I took off from running, I've researched training schedules for multiple marathons and it seems very feasible. (Even if it didn't seem feasible, I'd probably still do it!) Aside from the 3 runs a week, I'm throwing in hot yoga and strength training. It's gonna keep be busy, but I'm on a mission!
